Donkeys are amazing beings and so are the people who love them. I have never known an animal so compassionate, tough, humble and gentle. When a donkey looks you in the eye you can feel it in your heart.

After meeting Ann Firestone's Mammoth donkeys, I instantly fell in love with them. My dream was to some day have a Mammoth Donkey of my own. Bubba came to the Save Your Ass Rescue after his owner passed away. When I went to meet him it was love at first sight. He was so big and gentle and nuzzled his head into my chest and just let me hug him. He made me laugh - whenever another donkey approached he put his ears back and looked at them to say "This is my woman!"

Here at home in CT he continues to make me laugh and I continue to hug his big head constantly. He has the most unusual bray that is a cross between a mule and a cow. He loves to be brushed and rubbed and his bottom lip hangs down which makes him even more endearing. He has been getting along well with his new brothers, Sebastian the draft mule and Azzy the standard donkey. Just yesterday, Bubba and Sebastian both had their heads down at my knees, noses touching and lips wiggling as I rubbed their ears. I couldn't imagine my life without them and each time I am interacting with them I feel so lucky.

Thank you SYA!!!
