Save Your Ass Long Ear Rescue was incorporated as a 501-(c)(3), non-profit organization in 2007. We are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of donkeys and mules in need. By providing educational opportunities that increase awareness of the human/animal bond as well as the specific needs of long ears, SYA is able to improve the lives of donkeys and mules everywhere.
The rescue is located at the home of Ann and Jeff Firestone. The rescue has
no "official" hours, but welcomes visitors BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! An
appointment can be made by calling the rescue: 603-835-2971. Please respect
Ann and Jeff's privacy by calling ahead for an appointment. Thank you.

At SYA’s December’s Board meeting, it was agreed to enter into a partnership with Viridian Energy as a simple way to fundraise for the animals and offer a greener, affordable energy source to our donors. If you live in CT, NY, PA, NJ, MD or Chicago and support SYA’s mission to rehabilitate and rehome donkeys and mules, you can participate in this unique program.
Customers now have the opportunity to choose their electric supplier. Your utility company will still deliver the same reliable energy you’ve always had, as well as provide you with the same simple bill. There are no fees, no contracts and no cancellation fees. It’s really a no-brainer!
You save money on your electricity over time and each month you pay your electric bill, SYA earns money. It’s as simple as that.
Switch your energy supplier today and you are on your way to cleaner, more affordable energy for your home or office. Click on the Viridian banner and enroll in just minutes at www.viridian.com.sya.

A huge Thank You to our extraordinary volunteer Annie Kellam!
Annie Kellam is a long ear's dream come true....mine too. Annie shows up at least three times a week, rain, snow, sleet, or hail; she gives the postal workers a run for their money! She comes bearing gifts for the animals: apples, carrots, dandelion greens, or a bucket of alfalfa she has stopped to pick along the way. She sets up elaborate picnics for the animals with everyone getting their own dish of special goodies.
Annie is no stranger to hard work. She sees something that needs doing and does it! From scoopin' the poop to digging drainage ditches, Annie is on the job. She makes time to work with those who need a little something extra and has helped so many animals who come in a bit worried and unsure of what is going on make the transition to their new life easier. Annie always makes time to give a butt scritch or an ear rub or to just sit and talk to the animals. The donkeys, mules, and I are very grateful when we see Annie's red car with the Peace, Love, and Donkeys bumpersticker coming down the driveway.

Also a huge Thank You to Cinch Chix for the wonderful slow feeders. Here Calliope, Vito, and Joe share breakfast. There is little to no wasted hay using this method of feeding and it keeps the donkeys busy for a long time. They will eat for awhile, take a walk about and come back for more. The nets are very well thought out; easy to put over a bale of hay and cinch shut and it only took the donkeys a couple of feedings to figure out how to get their lips on the hay!

The Shelter Challenge!
The Pet Rescue Site just started a new vote for your favorite shelter challenge. SYA hasn't made it past fourth place, and they are in need of funds, so if everyone can take a moment after clicking to help feed the dogs and cats, maybe we can get them to win this time! Here is the link to The Animal Rescue Site:
http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com
There is a purple button that says "Click here to give, it's free". After you click it will take you to a new webpage, at the top is a button that says Vote Now. It will walk you thru the vote, then tomorrow, it will give you who you voted for the day before, so it's even quicker. SYA's info is Save Your Ass Long Ear Rescue, South Acworth, NH! If you all have a moment, SYA would sure appreciate it! Thank you!!!

Featured Adoptee's
The two donkeys are Appleseed and Tumbleweed and I adopted them from Ann just less than a year ago. They are just soo cute and have brought so much joy into our lives. They reside on our farm with our two other mini ponies. Everyone loves to visit with them. They so love any scratches, rubs and of course treats. They are quite the little characters and love to share with us all their squeaks and songs!!
